I used to tell my mom random things that made me sound informed and intelligent when I was younger. No real purpose here — I just wanted to make a point and needed some “facts” to go along with it.
One time I said something about not running over boxes on the road. “I saw on TV that someone ran over a box and it had kittens it and they all died.” HORRIBLE. I know, especially because I never saw any such thing. Point was, it was plausible and I wanted her to recognize that, and clearly not run over boxes/bags on the road.
Now, it’s a fact she lives by. To this day she tells people to avoid bags and boxes on the road. It’s funny how such a simple and mindless story can actually stick with people for life. I guess that just shows us the power our words can have. I never imagined as an 8 year old girl that my mom would tell my story for years to come…
Yes, I’m having a random day like that so I decided to share.
Monday’s outfit (today’s is too boring to share).
Based off my last blog I’ve decided that the best way to respond to comments is through another post altogether. Because no one ever goes and checks back on the original post (I know I don’t), but I do want to respond people ALL the time. So here goes the first response (albeit not timely thanks to health care):
COMMENT: Southern Living: Preppy Style: So cute, will you come style my closet? I can’t see pieces like some of my friends can! So cute! March 13, 2010 2:46 PM
RESPONSE: Oh my gosh, I wish! I’m known for only being able to style an article of clothing ONE way. In fact, I need someone to come and pare down my closet and teach me how to style things differently. If I didn’t see that Target commercial I NEVER would have put something together differently.
Oh how spring has sprung in DC! No more wool, tights or coats for this beach baby. Here come springy skirts and sundresses in abundance!
I think this warm weather is just what I need to combat the winter doldrums that got to me a bit too much this year, and my new permanent-nausea induced by the Pelosi-Obama-Reid triumvirate by shoving government-run health care down my throat. Yes, warm weather is just the cure. Or at least a pleasant veil from the sad reality of what’s going down in Washington.
Sunday’s shopping and errands outfit.
1)Do you answer blog comments as posts or in the comment section? 2) Do you follow comments to see if the owner replies to you?
Please answer, as I’m trying to figure out how best to do this.
Not going to get all political on your just now, mostly because I don’t really have the time even if I wanted to. BUT, my head’s spinning working on health care right now. I honestly can’t believe some of the BS happening in Congress right now. Then again with the Pelosi-Obama-Reid triumvirate at work, I can.
That said, posting is slow now because all my free time is going to writing (for work) about health care. Hope to post a “real” post enough enough though.
Have been running around like a crazy person this week, but wanted to post Monday’s outfit because yellow makes me smile. It reminds me of happy things and sunshine. Both of which are VERY welcome in my life right now.
Inspired by an outfit that I saw on a Target commercial, I pooled all my own pieces that I already had to make this come together.
It’s what they feared. It’s what I knew, albeit unconfirmed until now. My grandfather (mom’s dad) has lymphoma. It’s sad too because we thought this back in December 2008 and the doctor’s said no. Turns out, it’s been there all this time. No wonder he’s been so sick and has lost so much weight.
Blah. Cancer sucks.
Using Polyvore’s to take my mind off of things… typical.
The weather is warming up and I just can’t help dressing like it’s slightly warmer than it is. Then again, it IS pretty warm out.
